The star of ‘Mod Squad’ and ‘Twin Peaks,’ Peggy Lipton, has died at the age of 72 years.

Peggy Lipton a trendy and renown actress who rose to fame in the 1960s has died at the age of 72 years after battling cancer. She rose to prominence in the 1960s due to her outstanding performance in “Mod Squad” which was one of the series aired on the television at that time. Nevertheless, her popularity is equally attributed to the second series she acted in 1990, “Twin Peaks” which was similarly aired on TV. The saddening news was confirmed by her two daughters Kidada and Rashida Jones, to their father Quincy Jones who is a music producer.

The family and kindred of the late Peggy Lipton said that they were heartbroken by the sudden demise of the actress. The family statement further said, “she made her journey peacefully while under the excellent care of her two beloved daughters Kidada and Rashida Jones together with her nieces by her side.” The family reported being happy to have Peggy Jones and that they enjoyed every moment that they shared with her before losing the battle to cancer.

The family as well requested for privacy while revealing that they couldn’t put their feelings into writing at that particular moment since the news of the demise of Peggy Lipton came as a shocker to them.  Nevertheless, they affirmed that Peggy was and will always remain their beacon of light, even in the world beyond. She will forever and always continue being part of the family even her world of the breathless.

At that time, Lipton did play Julie Bones one of the hits that were produced by the trio of the Los Angeles undercover “hippie cops”. The single hit was first played on the counter-culture under “The Mod Squad” together with Michael Cole and Clarence Williams the III. The show was usually aired on ABC television channel from 1968 to 1973.

Peggy Lipton received a prestigious nomination for the Emmy awards, and she won for herself a Golden Globe Award in 1971 due to her spectacular and outstanding performance during that show. The show was very educative and addressed social problems such as the war in Vietnam, drug trafficking as well as domestic violence experienced in her society during those days.

In 1974, Peggy Lipton was officially married to Quincy Jones who was a professional music producer. Afterwards, she decided to concentrate on her family affairs and took care of her two daughters. However, the marriage only lasted till 1989 when they divorced. Peggy featured in the 1979 Mod Squad, a television reunion series.  She later featured in 1999 movie version of the Mod Squad that stirred other artists such as Claire Danes, Omar Epps, and Giovanni Ribisi. In the above series, Claire Danes played the role of Julie Barnes. Moreover, in the 1990s, Peggy assumed the role of Norma Jennings in the new television series “Twin Peaks.” Consequently, she played the same position in 2017 revival show of the same series.
